The COEC accountant plays a central and essential role in the operation of our nonprofit organization. The accountant is responsible for the day to day financial operations and information, maintaining accurate books on accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and daily financial entries and reconciliations. Based out of our main Sanborn Western Camps office, the bookkeeper directly supports all administrative and leadership staff from each branch: The Nature Place Colorado Conference Center, High Trails Outdoor Education Center, and Sanborn Western Camps.

Essential Job Functions:
- Maintain accurate records of financial transactions within general ledger
- Perform payroll functions in an accurate and timely manner, and submit payroll taxes
- Keep track of employee benefits such as paid time-off, health insurance, etc.
- Prepare financial reports through collection, analysis, and summarization of data
- Interpret and apply accounting policies, rules, and regulations to all work in order to ensure compliance with applicable standards
- Perform all activities related to the accounts payable function including reviewing, coding, and processing payments in a timely manner
- Perform account receivable functions including invoicing, deposits, collections, and revenue recognition
- Maintain petty cash fund
- Assemble information for external auditors for financial audits, worker’s comp audits, IRS audits, and any other required audits
- Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting and filing requirements related to payroll taxes, sales tax.
- Communicate with camp parents, alums and clients/client phone calls and e-mails regarding financial questions in a competent, friendly manner
- Provide clerical and administrative support to management as requested
- Provide information to insurance broker to track ACA compliance
- Work with the Executive Director to class expenses related to the current organizational budget
- Provide Executive Director with monthly financial reports, employment reports and expense reports and, as requested, at other times.
- Work with Executive Director and CPA on at least a monthly basis to reconcile all accounts

Physical Requirements
Works in a normal office environment requiring light physical effort by handling objects up to 20 pounds occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently. Works with standard office equipment (such as phone, fax, and personal computer). Ability to navigate stairs frequently during the course of a business day in various work locations. Sitting at a desk for most of the day and working on a computer.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary starting at $22.50/hr-$28.00/hr
*In compliance with CDLE Job Description Postings this Annualized Salary Range is: $45,000.00-$56,000.00 USD/year
Health Insurance (COEC pays 75% of the premium for employee and 50% for dependents) eligible after 60 days to apply
Access to 6,000 acres of land to hike and explore
