Maintenance Staff Job Posting
(Electrical Experience) 

Reports to: Director of Maintenance

The maintenance staff are essential to the operation of our nonprofit organization. Maintenance team members uphold the mission of the organization through maintaining and improving COEC’s facilities and land, providing a safe, efficient infrastructure for our residential communities. Team members are recruited and rewarded for initiative, flexibility, hard-work and excellent skills. 

Essential Job Functions:
  • Perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled facilities maintenance, preventive maintenance, component replacement and repair tasks, including carpentry, mechanical, and basic non-licensed electrical and plumbing work; maintains specialized kitchen equipment (dishwasher/stoves...)
  • Electrical:
    • Diagnose electrical problems
    • Install and repair electrical systems, appliances and other equipment
    • Comply with all safety and regulations of the National Electrical Code
  • Help maintain roads
  • Collaborate with other professionals during renovations and facility expansions
  • Perform specialized seasonal work (pool maintenance, snow removal)
  • Assist in fire mitigation-cut, load and haul trees, slash and debris
  • Operate vehicles and equipment in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures; identify
    and report mechanical problems requiring additional repair
  • Inspect and maintain assigned equipment and small tools for proper operating condition; complete
    minor repairs on equipment as needed
  • Support a collaborative, positive, work environment. ​​ ​

Other Job Duties:
  • Help run client/camp programming when applicable, i.e. sawmill demonstrations, wood shop
  • Lead applicable staff training for summer programming (bike maintenance, vehicle trainings, work
    project coordination)

Qualifications: (Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience)
  • Experience working with power tools and knowledge of their safe operation
  • Excellent work habits including: punctuality, efficient use of time, prioritizing tasks
  • Must pass background checks
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to work independently and/or with others to maintain and repair facilities
  • Hold a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Carpentry Skills (framing, sheet rock, painting, decking, windows, roofing, siding)
  • Comfortable working a wide range of equipment and tools
  • Experience working with power tools and knowledge of their safe operation
  • Ability to work with cleaning equipment chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry,
    liquid, powder, spray and aerosol forms.
  • Can work in conditions that will create dirt and dust

Physical Requirements of the Position:
  • Move up to 50lbs of project material repeatedly and or tools to potentially remote building locations
  • Erect and stand on scaffolding, ladders and platforms
  • Perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment which may involve, but is not limited to the
    following activities: reaching overhead, crouching, kneeling, shoveling, working in narrow and or confining spaces (underground, overhead, or at ground level), twisting of the waist shoulders and legs, lying on stomach and/or back.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Salary DOE
  • Health Insurance (COEC pays 75% of the premium) eligible after 60 days to apply.
